Video(action responses encouraged) | Day 35 | Come get some ice packs!
[The video opens with the ever-present view of the tech-inept: A closeup of a nostril. This one's a rounded, reptilian one at the end of a scaly silver snout. This close, the end of her snout is actually shiny and smooth, and looks harder than the rest of her head.]
Is this...
[Finally, Ferlarys pulls the bangle back, getting herself mostly in frame.]
Is this right? I don't know how to use this. I think that's right.
[More fiddling. It looks like the food replicator's behind her. She's sitting against it.]
Yes, there. I think. [She clears her throat.] Er, hello, fellow...guests of the fae, I suppose is how they'd call us. My name is Ferlarys, if we haven't met. The replicator here doesn't seem to be working at all anymore, and I don't know about the rest of you, but my room is no longer a sanctuary from the heat. Hopefully, you've saved up water from when it was working, and if you haven't, I have some.
I also have this.
[When she reaches for a damp rag, she reaches with the arm holding the bangle. Her hawk is in a shallow pan lined with a dampened towel, low with wings spread to dissipate the heat. She finally realizes her mistake, and there are several more awkward closeups of her face while she gets the bangle the right distance from herself again.]
Sorry, this is awkward. If I could just detach the stone... Anyhow, watch.
[She transfers the rag to her other hand and breathes a puff of frost into it, where ice specks glimmer before they begin melting.]
We can use these to keep cool, or to render aid to anyone who's succumbed to the heat. I'll be waiting here in the tavern, trying the replicator, if you'd like some, or if you'd like me to chill your own cloth or water. But if you need help, or are with someone who does, I'll try to come to you.

Roj walked in behind him, decidedly less thrilled with the heat than her person. Unhappy, but by no means in distress since she was at least, somewhat accustomed to warmer weather, and because Æn'kae had made sure to keep her activity to a minimum as the temperatures continued to rise.

She nods at his greeting, still not quite sure if it should be returned.
“Aen’kae. It’s good to see you again, and with a generous offer, too. I’ll take you up on it. It’s best there’s someone here.” She’d hate for someone to come looking, needing help, and not find her where she’d said she’d be. “Do you know of anyone who needs aid, who might not have been able to respond?”

"I don't for sure, but I also don't mind checking on the others just to make sure. I'm still more than comfortable with the temperature." As demonstrated by the fact he still wore the heavy robe from the space mall rather than switching to the lighter uniform jacket even. To be fair, he could probably switch to it comfortably too, but he just liked this one.

Arrow calmed somewhat with the larger creature out of the way, glancing at the tiny creature with interest before remembering (not that he wanted to fly in this heat anyway, there was no crossbreeze in this giant metal box) and ignoring him.
"You're used to an environment like this, then? My body's built for quite the opposite."

"I'm not exactly used to this warm exactly, but my species originally evolved on a desert world that's hotter than this." He shrugged. "I uh, I have to admit that if I wasn't worried about everyone else I'd really be enjoying these temperatures." As it was, he hoped it would cool back off soon. He'd rather be a little cold than worry about someone else getting heatstroke.

Though, what Aen’kae says next gets her attention. “Do you mean the desert spans the entire world?”

And then he rubbed the back of his neck. "Oh. Uh. Not entirely. It's certainly a harsher climate than many humanoid species consider the ideal, but there are some mountains and small oceans along with the deserts. And there are some areas that freeze. But the atmosphere is thin and lets a lot of solar radiation in. I uh, I've never been. There's still people there but mine left it a long time ago."

She's figured out by now that Aen'kae is going to end up using plenty of terms she doesn't understand, or only understands in ways he doesn't seem to be using. And that's fine. At least this one, she thinks she understands. Mostly. "Atmosphere" is the air bubble surrounding large bodies like planets, and solar is self-explanatory. She wonders if the air is too thick for him in here, now. But perhaps when there isn't a potential crisis. She'd honestly love to ask questions forever, his entire frame of reference is so alien to her it's fascinating.
"Should I look after your animals while you're checking on the others, or will they go with you?"

As if to prove him wrong, Hwoinch worked his way free of Roj as he spoke and chose that moment to pounce his boots.
He arched an eyebrow at the small feline and picked him up gently. "That is, I don't think Roj will be that much trouble."
Hwoinch squirmed loose and began scaling to his shoulder, using the heavy fabric of the robe for traction and earning a wince from the Rihanha. "I suppose Hwoinch can join me for now," he grumbled with a small laugh, shaking his head.
