[It was about time they did something about the food situation. The machines working did frankly make him even more nervous about when they wouldn’t any longer. Also the ship could feel rather empty for what little people were here, so he kept inviting people to shared mealtimes anyway.]

“Hey there. The ones who’ve been longer might’ve noticed there’s a pantry in the kitchen area now. I’ve been stocking that up.” [As well as a separate one in their room, until any more would be symptom of a bigger problem.] “For the new ones – these machines might work now, but they don’t always. Sometimes they give out wrong things, sometimes nothing at all.”

[Day was trying hard to not let that bring back a childhood full of food insecurities.] “So… perhaps help stock up, while they work. If anyone can fix the freezer or that box looking like a fridge, we could use these too. I’m trying to clear an area in the forest too, for planting seeds, but that will be a while. Oh and if anyone wants to have meals together, I’m always happy about company.”

No need to be sorry. They are working currently after all and if it keeps in line with the weather report, we still got a bit over a week of that.

[Donnie, did you forget to eat again. But then again he has been extremely preoccupied since he's found his brother aboard.]

Have for a while already. No fuss, no weird interpretations. Never would've managed to stock up the pantry otherwise.

No, I mean the refrigeration units.

Oh, no. They are about as functional as the oven was.
But the food machines are behaving, so there isn't a need to have them fixed right away.

Yeah, I don't trust that for a second.

[Why would those things suddenly be working now?]

I'll have a look at the fridge and stuff.

[He hates that he actually does not look forward to seeing the status of those appliances, but he can only hope something at least resembles a normal appliance setup.]

Makes me worry what they will be up to next...

You know where I am if you need a hand. Or just moral support about the state of the things.

I know. It'll be good to be doing some tinkering with machinery after all the cleaning and room remodeling.

Still much left to be desired, but it's more livable. Window's great. But I think I probably am going to have to invest in a better sort of shading system because there is such a thing as too much light.

[He'd appreciate it if he wasn't so paranoid about this ship.]

Curtains do work, you know. Simple solutions. Though at least the ship is pretending to have a day-night cycle, so it's not light all the time.

Small conveniences. But sometimes one likes dark when it's daytime.

Maybe I should just wall off a section of the room. Or invest in a second one.

I'll worry about it later. Not a priority.

I'd say my migraines agree, but it's better for me to have some light. Just enough to see where I am.

Look, if I'm going to be projecting movies or something then I don't need to see where I am.

Movies? Don't you need big screens for that?

Well yes, but technically if you have a decently sized wall or anything wide and flat enough, you can get by with a projector. Otherwise I just watch them on my phone or tablet but what fun is that?

I wouldn't know, I never really saw one. Jerry wanted to try, but I got headaches from screens before the surgery.

You've never seen a movie, ever.

Once I manage to get something together, you're welcome to come and watch one.

That's a great idea!! (A lot of great ideas!!!)

We should try and make a recipe book, or maybe teach each other how to cook too. There's lots of things you can make with very little, as long as you know how!

I mean, I am already cooking. Don't trust these things. They won't tell me where it all comes from or how much there is left.

I can help then! I used to join the spirits who cooked all the time, so I've picked up some neat things!

Me, Aen'kae, Donnie... whoever else joins. I don't really know how to cook for a lot of people at once. Only really learned in the past year, so I'm glad for any help.

So it's just having a good week, huh? Figures. I can do either of those. Good with tools, but I see you've already got a volunteer there. No problems telling the rustbucket to give us sacks of flour or cereal either.

I'm sure Donnie can use the help either way, wouldn't be fair to leave it all to him. I'd certainly recommend stocking up on any favourites that keep well.
